Simon and I presented our results of the bluetooth site specific brief to the other groups and Mike. We decided to create a visual representation in Flash to show the navigation of each of the blue tooth devices we picked during our time in Drakes Circus.
Although we used somewhat basic animation to represent our findings... alon with Mike agreeing the animation wasn't the best representation, he seemed to really like the concept.
We plan to recreate this again using this time the 'bubble shape of bluetooth that a user is surrounded by. This will show what happens when more than one bluetooth bubble comes in contact with another.

Larger Scaled Final Test
Today we carried out a larger scale test of the previous idea using four different locations around Drake Circus. This test lasted for 10 minutes, taking the first four names from the blue tooth device list after refreshing the search every one minute.
Using the results from this we created a sped up flash animation showing the movements of some of the devices we recorded. The animation shows various coloured blobs which indicate each blue tooth device we recorded. They are set on a black background which maps out the rough layout of the area instead of using an actual floor plan.
Some of the results we recorded didn't give an accurate indication of where the device was as well as some devices simply appearing and disappearing within a matter of seconds

Bluetooth Final Plan
Our final idea is decided, we are going to head to Drakes Circus on Saturday and using 4 or 5 bluetooth devices record other bluetooth movements just as before. This time should be alot more devices present, due to all the Christmas shoppers.
We are going to use the results to create animation in Flash to show the navigation of the devices.

Bluetooth Trial Run
We carried out a trial run of an idea using mobile phone bluetooth as a way of following the route and navigation of people within Drakes Circus by recording their bluetooth movements.
This was tried out by both myself and Simon standing in two different areas of the centre both with with our phones bluetooth on and recording the names of other devices we picked up, in intervals of 30seconds - 1minute.
I was stood outside Waterstones and Simon was outside of Newlook, this was enough of a distance so that we didn't pick each other up through the bluetooth.

We plan on carrying this out again with the use of more bluetooth devices positioned around Drakes Circus and possibly on a busier day than a Thursday morning, to see how many devices we can records and which routes they take.
